In developing our collaborations with experts and scholars around the globe, we were happy to welcome Dr. Byeng Dong YOUN, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Seoul National University (SNU), the founder and CEO of OnePredict Inc. (onepredict.com), and the President of the Korean Society of Prognostics and Health Management (PHM). Prof. Youn presented his talk on Industry AI based Machine Intelligences for Industrial Digitalization and we discussed the challenges related to applying machine learning techniques in industrial monitoring.

Talk abstract:

Unexpected failures of engineered systems can lead to significant economic and societal losses. To minimize the losses, reliability must be ensured throughout the system’s lifecycle in the presence of manufacturing variability and uncertain operational conditions. This talk presents recent advances in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) technology that can ensure high reliability and maintainability of complex engineered systems through autonomous sensing, diagnosis, prediction, and mitigation of adverse events during various missions of the systems. The PHM technology is a core technology for asset management, composed of four functions: (i) health sensing function, (ii) health reasoning function, (iii) health prognostics function, and (d) health management function. This talk defines the industrial AI and presents three levels of industrial AI technology for machine intelligences. In the end, several success stories of the machine intelligences using industrial AI are demonstrated for industrial digitalization including manufacturing, transportation, power generation and delivery.
